We're officially making solar-powered wine!

It’s been a long 8 months since our solar project first started back in June 2021. It was filled with long days on the roof and 60,000 square feet of solar panels. In partnership with our friends at Taylor Energy, our dream of being a 100% solar-powered winery has finally come to life! “For many years, we have strived to implement strategies and technologies that allow us to work in the most sustainable way possible, allowing generations of Ballettos to continue in the family wine business, and this milestone is a testament to that vision and success.” said John Balletto.

It’s a HUGE accomplishment to be able to fully power everything given the entire winery, production facility and additional two ranch properties. Being able to power all of it with a sustainable, natural resource is something we’re so proud of. This is the largest solar project in Sonoma County history and a huge step forward in reducing our carbon footprint. Winemaker, Anthony Beckman is beyond proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish here, “Solar energy represents our investment in the future of this family-owned and operated winery and our respect for our Russian River Valley environment. Plus it’s super exciting to be using the sun to run cooling, pumps, forklifts, and basically everything throughout the winery. It feels right.”

We’re looking ahead to 2023, when we will be expanding the Tasting Room patio and parking lot to be able to include four electric vehicle parking spots!
